I'm allergic to aloe. Taking it internally makes my ears ring, putting it on my skin makes it itch. I've read that aloe is high in salicylates. I wonder if other people who are allergic to aspirin are also allergic to aloe vera.

Salicylate allergy is appaently common in many people today and it is increasing. If you have a salicylate allergy you should avoid products containing it until the allergy is resolved. This would include aloe.
Also make sure the product you buy and apply to skin is free from other additives as you could also be alergic to one of these.

I have been drinking aloe vera nearly every day for 30 years now. It, and garlic, are the two most important plants in the world!
